Beauty & the Bioeconomy
Jane Evison
The cosmetics and personal care industry is undertaking major initiatives giving consideration to the environmental impact of its products and their use by consumers. These initiatives are driven both by legislation and by consumer preferences.
These actions include responsible manufacturing, distribution, recycling schemes and reduction/upcycling of waste and waste streams. All this as well as meeting increasing consumer demands for ethical practices, sustainability, sourcing locally and from the bioeconomy, and traceability of ingredients.
CCUK brings together experts in the bioeconomy through our events, such as our 'Beauty & The Bioconomy' webinar series, and our special Task force with the Biobased and Biodegradeable Industries Association (BBIA). We also connect companies and start-ups, who operate in the bioeconomy and engineering biology fields, many of whom are joining our cluster, where they can find access to experts and training on regulations, claims support and business development in the cosmetic industry.
