Circular Bioeconomy Cluster
The Circular Bioeconomy Cluster, established in 2021 by MTU, the CircBio Research Group, and Enterprise Ireland, is a national industry network driving innovation in circular, low-carbon, and resource-efficient solutions. The cluster supports SMEs and large enterprises in developing sustainable, bio-based business models and connects members to funding, investors, and new market opportunities. By facilitating collaboration between industry and research, it accelerates R&D and the creation of new value chains from renewable biological resources and side-streams. Through targeted training and upskilling, the cluster builds circular economy capabilities across sectors. Its Helix-6 model brings together key stakeholders—startups, industry, research, finance, producers, and government—to foster collaboration, promote zero-waste practices, and replace fossil-based materials with sustainable alternatives.
