Education and Skills Survey 2025

Updated: Oct 20

We have run two previous surveys since 2018 and our 3rd version is closing soon. Our original aim was to better understand pathways into careers in the cosmetics industry, particularly into the more technical roles.

In 2025 we have added questions on apprenticeships, work placements and impact of AI on work.

We would love to hear from those aged 18-25 and in their first or second job in the industry.

  • Key findings from previous studies include:

    • 70% have worked in the sector for more than 5 years

    • 60% worked for only 1 or 2 companies

    • 24% work for a large company (over 500)

    • 28% for a very small one (1-10)

  • Younger respondents were increasingly more self determined when seeking roles, older respondents tended to have 'fallen into their role'

  • Older respondents were much less aware of roles in the industry than younger respondents

  • A clear need arising from the analysis is greater integration and collaboration between education providers, employers and recruiters.

CCUK continues to work towards this goal with partners including the Society of Cosmetic Scientists, members and our network organisations.
