Bio-Sep has developed a mild ultrasonic biorefinery process to convert the by-products of forestry and agriculture into its core components, hemicellulose sugars, cellulose and lignin. Some of our products are known ingredients in cosmetics. For example, the cellulose we produce is microcrystalline cellulose which has multiple functions in cosmetics, as an abrasive, an absorbent, anticaking agent, an emulsion stabiliser, a bulking agent, and a viscosity control agent. The hemicellulose sugars we produce include mannose which is a great humectant and moisturizer in cosmetic products.
