Monthly Blog - January 2025

As we begin 2025, we are very sad to say goodbye to two of our board directors, Kirsty Mawhinney and David Greenhalgh. Kirsty joined us soon after our relaunch and has been involved in delivering our regular communications with her strong background in brand consultancy. She has regularly led our participation at industry events, as well as being a champion of sustainability through her involvement with the British Beauty Council’s Sustainable Beauty Coalition, helping us to develop our ties with them as part of our network of associations. David joined us with a background in the chemicals industry and innovation management and also with a strong understanding of CCUK and its history. He has been instrumental in doing the research for our Totally Made in the UK project, helping us out at tradeshows and with his presentations at webinars, especially those focussed on innovation. We extend them both our best wishes for the future and our grateful thanks. We will miss you.

Turning to the future, this year will again be busy, and we will focus our activities firmly around our four key pillars: Networking & International Clusters, Education & Skills, Research & Innovation and newly named Beauty & the Bioeconomy. At our eponymous second webinar held on 28th January, we were delighted to announce a partnership with the Biobased and Biorenewable Industries Association (BBIA) to create a task force bringing together interests for the cosmetics industry.

On 19th and 26th March, we will be contributing to the Global Cosmetics Cluster, ‘Access to Global Markets’ webinar series, giving our picture of the UK cosmetics market and trends in Part 1 and the regulatory and trade implications of entering the UK market in Part 2. Previous webinars include Canada, Japan and Italy and are very useful insights from on the ground in each of those markets from our fellow clusters.

This month we extend our thanks to members Holiferm, Naturiol and Global Cosmetics Development who have renewed their membership and continue to enjoy the benefits and support of the CCUK network. As the only networking cluster in the UK for the whole value chain in the cosmetics industry, we offer a unique opportunity to connect with other businesses, academics and other associations, at home and abroad.
